Ocean Freight

The most economical way to move volume

Ocean freight trades speed for cost efficiency — the standard choice for large or heavy shipments that don't need to arrive in days.

Port operations with cranes, trucks, and a cargo ship

How it works

Ocean freight is priced by container space rather than weight, which makes it far more cost-effective than air for bulky or heavy cargo. Shipments move as either a Full Container Load (FCL), where a shipment has an entire container to itself, or a Less than Container Load (LCL), where it shares space with other shipments to the same destination — a good option when a shipment doesn't fill a full container.

Transit time runs from roughly one to six weeks depending on the origin and destination ports, plus time for loading, customs clearance, and the final delivery leg.

What's included

FCL & LCL Options

A full container for larger shipments, or shared container space when your shipment doesn't need one to itself.

Port-to-Port or Door-to-Door

Pick up freight at the port yourself, or let us handle the trucking on both ends for a fully managed move.

Customs Handled End-to-End

Import and export paperwork is prepared and filed on your behalf, so shipments don't stall waiting on documentation.

Consolidation Available

Shipping less than a full container? We combine your freight with other LCL shipments heading to the same destination.

When ocean freight makes sense

  • Large or heavy shipments where air freight's weight-based pricing gets expensive
  • No hard deadline — a few weeks of transit time is acceptable
  • Bulk goods, furniture, machinery, or inventory restocks
  • Cost efficiency matters more than speed

If your shipment is smaller or time-sensitive, air freight is worth comparing — see our guide on choosing between ocean and air.
